Can I do Pilates if I'm pregnant?
There is a lot of debate on the subject of pregnancy and exercise in general. If you have never done Pilates before then newly pregnant is not the time to start. Reason being: Pilates works from the deepest muscles of your core, right where the baby is taking up space. It is very difficult to begin feeling these muscles if you have never felt them before. Pilates exercises that do not initiate from the powerhouse can be difficult and even dangerous. Better safe than sorry.
This being said - If you have done Pilates before and know what the powerhouse muscles are and how to enageg them, Pilates exercises are excellent for your body and mind during pregnancy.
