What are some of the equipment used in Pilates?
Throughout his lifetime, Joseph Pilates continued to develop and create new pieces of exercise equipment to help stretch, strengthen and balance the body. The apparatus are highly effective at changing bodies as well as integrating fun and adding modifications to a daily workout!
Pilates designed more than 500 specific exercises using five major pieces of unique apparatus to develop the body uniformly. Instead of performing many repetitions of each exercise, Joseph H. Pilates preferred fewer, more precise movements, requiring proper control and form.
His inventions include the following:
The Mat

The Cadillac (“Trap Table”)
The Electric chair (“High Chair”)
The Low Chair ("Baby Chair")
The Ladder barrel (“High Barrel”)
The Spine corrector (“Large Barrel”)
